Blog Tour de Force

Stop #1 HeartsBlood!

That's right, people!

The Blog Tour de Force has officially begun and this little ole blog is where the fun begins!

For any of you who have been living in a cave, I am one of the founders of the @IndieBookIBC plus I write a bunch of stuff. And I would love a bunch of people to read my bunch of stuff. So with @amberscootbooks, @rachelintheoc and @LMStull we threw together the mother of all blog tours!

"Get Loaded...Your eBook reader that is"

That's right, 12 authors banded together to put together a Grand Prize package that includes... wait for it... a Kindle!

That's right, you can win a Kindle and not only that but have it loaded with all 12 authors books plus a gift basket filled with gifts from each author.

Even the 1st Prize is off the hook with all 12 authors giving your their eBook for free! And those are just the overall prizes.

Each stop on the way will have its own set of prizes from the author. Free eBooks. Free signed paperback copies. Individual gift baskets. You name it, it'll probably be given away!

But, let's get back to me #myfavoritetopic

Today we are celebrating my paranormal romance/urban fantasy "HeartsBlood"

How would I describe it? Um... how about I let a few reviewers do it for me?

Oh. Dear. God. I loved HeartsBlood!

When I was reading it, I couldn't put it down. When I wasn't reading it it was all I could think about. I loved that I couldn't figure out what was coming next. The plot was truly spellbinding.

Seriously, I laughed, I cried, I worried. And when I finished the book I wanted to pick it back up and start from the beginning again.”
Lori W. (@funkycakes)

HeartsBlood is a paranormal romance? I hate to argue with Carolyn, but this is a kick-but-and-take-names urban fantasy. No, it is a thriller. Wait. I think it might be an action packed story of love and magic that defies classification!

I fear only women will read HeartsBlood when it was one of the most exciting thrillers I have read in a long while!

Guys, take note HeartsBlood is for you too!”
Ben Hopkin (@actingnodrama)

Also please check out my review sponsors...

I really appreciate all their kind words! Please check each and every one of them out for their opinion of "HeartsBlood" (because Lord knows you shouldn't trust me!) plus find even more ways to enter the Grand Prize Drawing for that "Loaded Kindle!"

So Amber told me I needed to write something really pithy and fun for this blog. You know, something I hadn't told any other reviewer. That I really needed to hit it out of the park.

Obviously she has never read anything previous on this blog otherwise she would have known it was a lost cause (and thank gawd I am going first so you can't judge me against the others!).

But what I can say is... If Tyr (the uber-hot, stubbled, tall, dark and dangerous hero from HeartsBlood) came walking down the street...
a) I would swoon
b) He would step over my unconscious body
c) I would be okay with that!

The other really cool thing about the Blog Tour de Force is that I got meet a lot of really great other indie authors. The first I'd like to mention is Kris Tualla. Her "A Matter of Principle" is historical fiction at its best.

The third in her series, you are going to love the chemistry and romance of Nicholas and Sydney. Set in St. Louis during the 1800s, the plot unfolds like a delicious meal. Tempting tidbits of mystery to start, building to an incredibly satisfying conclusion, with, of course, a silky smooth dessert to finish it all off with.

You are going to want to immediately go out and buy books 1 & 2!  I know I did!

"A Matter of Principle's" Blog Tour day is tomorrow 1/18 so hit her up here! #seriously #Iwillbewatching

Then there is Susan Schreyer's "Death by a Dark Horse." Being a veterinarian you can imagine how hooked I was by a book with one of the main characters being a horse suspected of murder! I mean, come on! I get to use my veterinary and my love of police procedure to solve a crime! How often does that happen #notnearlyenough

Even if you aren't a horsey-girl like myself, I think you will find the complicated relationships and exquisite mystery more than satisfying in and of itself.

Susan's blog day is January 29th. Mark your calendars so you can hit her up here (or better yet sign up for our newsletter so you don't have to 'remember' anything! Get a daily reminder along with author news and super secret BONUS ways to enter the Kindle give away!).

Also don't forget that the tour will conclude at the Indie Book Collective on January 31st with an incredible scavenger hunt for loads of different ways to enter the Grand Prize drawing for that free Kindle!

Plus you can go to www.blogtourdeforce.com and sign up for our newsletter - just that alone gets you 5 entries into the drawing for brand spanking new Kindle, plus you get fun content from the authors and EXCLUSIVE ways to rack up lots of entries! Sign up NOW!

But what about HeartsBlood you ask? What spectacular prizes are you giving away TODAY?

Why, I am so glad you asked!!!

First off, anyone who follows this blog and leaves a comment (even 'yo, Carolyn') gets a free eBook! #howawesomeisthat

Second my gift basket is in my opinion, kicks some serious booty!

Not only do you get a free eBook, but you also get a signed paperback copy of "HeartsBlood" along with a gift basket that includes some blood red nail polish (for obvious reasons), a cut crystal necklace just like the one in "Heartsblood," and a hand-stained and burned-in leather bookmark. A truly unique keepsake! And a "Hello Kitty" pen, just to keep it real. #Iamsuchagiver

How do you enter for the "HeartsBlood" gift basket? Simple!
Simply go to smashwords.com and download your free 100 pages. Then simply leave a comment with your favorite line from pages 24-30! #toldyouitwassimple!

Oh, and did I mention that I need your help to kick the other author's butts? Because for us authors there is a free book trailer at stake! And I know how much you want me to be the proud winner! So please remember to go the the Indie Book Collective blog on Jan 31st and vote for me!!! #youknowyouwanna :-)

Alright, I am going to wrap this puppy up with a great big THANK YOU to all my readers, hope you enjoy "HeartsBlood" and I can hardly wait to see who wins my gift basket!

    Give Me 10!

    (Am I allowed to enter?)

On page 24, I love when Sal snaps her fingers "Maria style" Don't want to give any spoilers, but Maria is a great character.

  4. Um... so much to say, and I start it off by saying "um." Brilliant.
First, Hi, Carolyn! Congratulations on your book. I can't wait to read it. I like your cover, esp. your font (ok, that was totally the geekiest thing I have ever typed. But it's true.) I'm looking forward to the rest of this tour.
    Give me 10????
    Thanks,

    ReplyDelete
  8. Give me 10!!
Off to read the first 100 pages... :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. BTW, thanks again for sharing such a generous excerpt with us--I love it when Sal admits to herself at the beginning of Chapter 7, "Only her best friend could truly commiserate over Stacy's antics." That's what best friends are for! And at the beginning of Chapter 6 when she's marveling over Maria's persuasive abilities, "Her friend could usually pry the Holy Grail from the pope with a well-timed wink and smile." That's one charming woman!

  10. I am going to check out the book, sounds really cool

    ReplyDelete
  11. This sounds like a great way to read new authors. Give Me 10!

I shall be following Ben Hopkins comments and read it, too :D

  13. Ohh... the Hello Kitty lover is Maria! (for extra points)

Also for extra points... who knew Carolyn's bra was big enough for a chihuahua??? :P

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm certainly interested in giving your book a read.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes, the rumors are true... Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot? I am amazed that this quality of trivia has not surfaced before!

The Hello Kitty lover...Maria. I once knew a girl called Maria. True story.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Give me 10 too... I'll take ten of anything if it's free. :P
This books seems really interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it!
I've never been into Hello Kitty stuff like Maria is, but I know lots of people who are!
My fave line that I've read so far (p. 30 of the HTML sample is "She normally liked the dark. It was soothing. Calm. Safe. " I can relate. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. P.S. "Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot?"

    Sounds uncomfy... :P

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Carolyn! Looks like the blog tour is off to a smashing start. I bet you and your Chihuahua are pleased :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Okay, now that I've read the sample...

I read all the way to page 95 of the html sample, and the book got off to a slow start. The medical stuff isn't really my cup of tea, so I glossed over most of that, but what I did read was written well. There's humor and intrigue, some suspense.

My favorite line was "Maybe that was their problem. Never any makeup sex." on page 27 of the html sample.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Give me 10! Are you packing that chihuahua in your bra today? LoL. I love this tour.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Loads of humor - Carolyn's bra and Maria Hello Kitty lover - TFS!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is that a chihuahua in your bra, or are you just happy to see me? wink, wink

Good luck with this tour. Sounds very exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gimme 10! And I like Hello Kitty.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Carolyn, it cracked me up to learn that you let your Chihuahua ride in your brassiere ;) And I know quite a few friends who, like Maria, still adore Hello Kitty! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm so glad I crawled out of my cave in time to find you!

    ReplyDelete
  26. As another indie author, I'm cheering you all on from over here :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. so far fav quote of the pages requested is "Deepening intimate communication skills seldom left you hot and sweaty" So true!

    can't wait to read more!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looking forward to reading "Hearts Blood" - sounds great!

    ReplyDelete

Ok, I may not have time to read all 50 today, but it will happen! Right now, this contest is one of the funnest I think I've seen!

    ReplyDelete
  36. "Yes, the rumors are true... Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot?"

I used to carry my pet flying squirrel around in my bra, so why not carry a Chihuahua around in your bra? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Not sure where my post went - but give me 10! Pretty please! I can't wait to get into this story!!! I love discovering someone new and fun to read - this is very cool :-)

  38. Snapping her fingers, Maria-style, Sal got his attention. “Tell Dr. Manning to get her buns of steel in here.”

Awesome. Need to use it on someone I know who exercises....hm. Okay, can't use it on anyone, we are sloths over here. Still love it - nice and pointy. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Congrats on the book. It looks like a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This looks like it will be the best. contest. ever! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Great contest and your book looks great!! Thanks to all for the contests and great prizes!!

Out of those pages I liked "Leave, he growled.
Despite her body wanting to do exactly the opposite, Sal found her feet turning back toward the stairwell. While she tried to rationalize that is was her desire to get to security, Sal knew that it was his word, his commanding tone that forced her feet to move. Nothing else mattered but following his edict."

  42. Yes, the rumors are true... Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Here her “trick of the light” stood in the flesh.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Maria is the character obsessed with "Hello Kitty". Loved her attitude!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Fun post! I'm enjoying my first stop of the Blog Tour de Force. Having an excellent time.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hello Kitty - Maria
Fav Line - Her best friend hooked up EKG leads as she grinned. “I think somebody’s getting the precoital jitters.”

Yes, the rumors are true... Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot?

Can you tell I want those entries? lol Book sounds great, basket sounds great, and of course, entries to the kindle contest is great!

Can't wait to read it, I do so love urban fantasy and romance mix!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Am I losing it? Or, did they change the blog? I could have sworn I posted something earlier to this post.... but on a different blog with different font. Aye yi yi...

  48. Maria loved Hello Kitty, very sad.

    ReplyDelete

  55. "Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra"

That's either a really big bra, or a really small dog ;) I sometimes shove my phone in my bra while I'm using the restroom. A few of my dress pants don't have pockets! :)

And Maria likes Hello Kitty! Hook a girl up with some entries!

    Barb Riley (Riley Darkes)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Okay, Have read 65 pages so far. very good, kept me interested, was hard to stop but I needed to post on the blog. Maria is the character who loves Hello Kitty. Found it hard to pick a favorite line but line I found most interesting was "If they'd stayed together, Richard and Stacy could have made the most perfect Aryan babies ever."

Hard to imagine a chihuahua being carried in a bra but I'd like to see it!

Looking forward to the rest of the book, but you don't have it for the nook and I really hate reading on my laptop.

  58. Praxis!

Boy, I hope I spelled it right. I have dozens of pens and stuff lying around on my desk where I was listening but I still had trouble grabbing one to write down the spelling! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yo, Carolyn! (Lol I couldn't resist :D)

    Give me ten!!

My favorite part was on page 24, "Her tone not only pulled the student out of his stupor, but caused him to turn and literally run out of the room." I love a heroine that isn't afraid to say what she means, (and occasionally be a bitch about it. If we never got the chance to be a bitch, then life would be SERIOUSLY boring!)

Can't wait to read the rest!!!

    c4casey(at)comcast(dot)net

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, I must admit I've never carried a chihuahua in my bra, but I have carried baby bunnies there. :)
I missed what the Give me Ten thing was, but hey, I mentioned it.

Good luck with your book and your blog tour!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have carried many things in my bra, BUT they were all inanimate objects. I give you the prize for the baby chihuahua!

Congrats on Hearts Blood, and thanks for the Blog Tour de Force. I see great fun over the next couple of weeks!

  62. I missed this earlier, but: Maria= Hello Kitty

"Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot?"

At least you're not torturing your poor baby with an outfit that matches the carrier, your handbag, and you too!

    Give me 10!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. PRAXIS!! Thanks Carolyn!

So sorry I couldn't be on the show. I'm so bummed! I thought it was at 6pm PST. :( I sent you ladies an email, but it was already too late. Maybe another time!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm more than a little confused about all the 'gimmie 10' comments and since I don't like blindly following i'm going to resist the urge... but nice first post and if Heartsblood is as engaging as 30 Pieces of Silver then I might well have to pick it up... Certainly heading over to grab my sample now :D

  66. It's awesome that your fans are so enthused. I think i'm about to become enamored of Hearts Blood.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The above comment makes a very good point.. if we're reading this on a kindle (yes I already have one, I'm in this mostly to support the writer's and the free ebooks don't hurt :P) then we have locations not page numbers... so how do we know which the pages are to choose from? I could go download a second copy as PDF but this seems to be a somewhat long-winded way round... can we get location numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ill take 10 :)

I cant imagine getting a bad case of fleas in ur bra..lol

Looking forward to your book !

    ReplyDelete

At least you're not torturing your poor baby with an outfit that matches the carrier, your handbag, and you too!

  117. Well, I must admit I've never carried a chihuahua in my bra, but I have carried baby bunnies there. :)
I missed what the Give me Ten thing was, but hey, I mentioned it.

Good luck with your book and your blog tour!

  122. "Yes, the rumors are true... Carolyn can be found most days carrying a Chihuahua around in her bra #duh #ofcourse #whynot?"

I used to carry my pet flying squirrel around in my bra, so why not carry a Chihuahua around in your bra? ;)
